On Saturday February 8, around 3:10 am, a man was shot and injured while in a bar in the Maho area. Several police patrols and paramedics were dispatched to the scene.
Rescuers at the scene found a man who was bleeding from one leg after being shot. The victim explained to the police that he was seated in a bar, located in the Maho Reef area, when an individual entered the bar in possession of a firearm. The malefactor seized the property of a tourist couple who was also at the bar. Victim Explained to Police He Was Shot while trying to prevent the robber from stealing the two tourists. After firing, the individual fled towards Mullet Bay.
The paramedics gave first aid to the victim, before transferring him to the Sint Maarten Medical Center.
