ST MAARTEN: Government asks Diamonds Resorts and Bouygues Construction to recruit local workers

0

The Minister of Health, Social Development and Labor of Sint Maarten recently visited the reconstruction site of the Diamonds Resorts in Simpson bay. She met the owners of the establishment to whom she expressed her wish that they use more local labor than foreign.

The leaders assured "to increase the number of local workers once the project can support it financially," the government said in a press release. And to emphasize that "Bouygues Construction [in charge of the site] is known to import and request authorizations from foreign workers in the construction field."

The director of Bouygues Construction, who has accepted the minister's request to hire unemployed people, will soon receive from the authorities a list of qualified local workers likely to be recruited on the Simpson Bay and Pelican construction sites.

Finally, the Minister invites unemployed people to register with the Labor Office in order to be identified.
