JUSTICE: New postponement of trial of three men accused of obstructing traffic

0

PC, RJ and PL aged 38, 22 and 40 respectively are accused of obstructing traffic, specifically of having participated in the establishment of roadblocks on the public highway on November 10. They were placed under judicial supervision the same day and summoned to the Saint-Martin local court on December 8. As the law allows, two of them asked to be assisted by a lawyer, the third was already. Also the case was postponed until today.

The three individuals were present and always only one accompanied by a council. No lawyer has been appointed for the other two. This is why the case was sent back again; the hearing is set for February 23, the time they can apply for legal aid.

However, the court had to rule on the situation of the three defendants, specifically on whether or not to maintain their judicial control. This was maintained but relaxed with one point per week at the gendarmerie; some had to clock up to three times a week. (soualigapost.com)
