One of the five individuals involved in the theft of boats and scooters in Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy on September 16, 2016 was tried on Thursday morning by the criminal court in Marigot. They had stolen a boat from Saint-Martin to go to Saint-Barthélemy. When they got there, they had left the boat. They then stole several scooters and two other boats to return to Saint-Martin with the stolen two-wheelers. FL is the only one of the five individuals to have been identified. He was summoned to court on Thursday but he did not show up. He was sentenced to eight months in prison. Four days after committing the acts a year ago, he had been brought before the Basse-Terre court for immediate appearance for other facts. He had received a three-year prison sentence with a warrant, but was released from prison last April.
