The Red Rock TF Meyran track, new access to the ecosite

The ecosite (former landfill) located in Grandes Cayes is the only site on the French side where waste must be deposited. Its access by a track close to the beach was made difficult following the passage of Irma. Authorities feared that the ecosite could no longer be served in the event of heavy swells. So it was decided to build a new track, higher up.

The site was carried out by soldiers from the 19th Engineer Regiment from Besançon who arrived at the BPC Tonnerre. Started at the end of September, it has just been completed. A ceremony was organized on Wednesday afternoon in the presence of the soldiers, the prefect, the first vice-president of the COM and local personalities.

Dubbed the “Red Rock TF Meyran track”, this 600-meter-long and 8,5-meter wide track now allows two trucks to pass each other. It is the new access to the ecosite. If the 19th Regiment made the base, it is now up to the COM to consolidate the track.

It was built on private land that the owner has agreed to, authorities said. Source: www.soualigapost.com
