Lieutenant-Colonel Sébastien Manzoni, in charge of the command of the gendarmerie company of Saint-Martin, wishes to act in the prevention of violence and the accompaniment of victims in Saint-Martin. He is therefore thinking about setting up a departmental prevention center in the French part of the island.
The ambition is to bring together under one roof all the actors concerned: prevention brigade for the prevention of juvenile delinquency (BPDJ), the social worker, etc. This type of structure already exists in mainland France. Lieutenant-Colonel Manzoni would also like this departmental prevention house to house a brigadier in charge of family protection. Its mission would include welcoming victims, directing them to associations and other specialized organizations, working with social services, participating in investigations.
"It would be a job creation," says Sébastien Manzoni, who "believes in this position and its usefulness in Saint-Martin. We have to face several social distresses, ”he underlines. And to be persuaded of a "worsening of the social situation" in the coming months.
