This weekend was the 5th edition of the Dauphin Telecom Trophy at Mullet Bay. 58 players - one more than last year - set off on Saturday morning for one of the flagship events of the golf season.
This year the competition could also be played on 9 holes. At 8:30 am the 16 groups set off in staggered starts in a friendly atmosphere as usual. This year, no less than 13 of our player friends from the Dutch side had registered for the Dauphin Trophy and two from Anguilla including Scott Delong, the friendly PRO from the magnificent “Cuisinart” golf course. The course was pleasant with however a little wind and irregular greens. Four hours later the winner in the queen category the 1st series was known: Jesus Rivera brought a card in the par, a score of 70 (2 par, 3 birdies, 3 bogeys), one of the best score ever recorded in Mullet Bay in official competition.
"Jesus really walked on the water" this Saturday, as one of the participants remarked, not without humor. Scott Delong finished second with a score of 73 and E.Garcia 3rd with 82.
In the 2nd series, Andy Wescott won in gross and Thomas Proust in net. In the ladies 18 holes it was Jeanne Pelé who won and Agnes Barnouin on 9 holes.
Participants met at the Villa NOCOart Studio not far from the golf course for the award ceremony around 16 p.m. Part of the Dauphin Telecom staff had responded and the Director General thanked all the participants. A draw for the score cards enabled the lucky ones to win many prizes and gifts offered by the generous benefactors of this event.
