True to the job, the Métimer Association is once again organizing the Fête de la Mer which will take place on May 26 and 27, again on Grand-Case beach. We can not wait to be there !
This unique event in the Caribbean is the perfect opportunity to discover the range of nautical activities available on our island and to meet the players in the sector.
Kayaking, stand-up-paddle boarding, initiation to mermaid swimming, hobie cat, windsurfing, Hawaiian canoe, diving, snorkelling, glass-bottom boat, motor boat or sailboat ride (monohull and catamaran), towed banana, water skiing, wake-boarding, jet skiing ...
In a spirit of conviviality, the Fête de la Mer is for everyone, beginners or experienced, young or not young, sportsmen or day enthusiasts. Young and old will be spoiled for choice to occupy their weekends and participate in activities organized by professional instructors.
Installed in 2013 on the Grand-Case beach, just in front of the lolos, the Fête de la Mer had attracted more than 2 people. As we do not change a formula that works, the Festival of the Sea since that day has been perpetuated in Grand-Case: a large protected bay, a Creole rock renowned for its magnificent seabed, a lively setting bordered by restaurants and the magic of sunsets.
This year, the party will have a special dimension, because most of the nautical operators lost premises and equipment with the passage of a certain Irma. However, some have recovered, which makes it possible to organize this 9th edition!
We think it is important that the population can enjoy a weekend of festivities around the sea, thanks to the entertainment that we offer each year in the district of Grand-Case. This year, we expect as many visitors and almost as many activities offered by the members of the Métimer Association. Our goal is to benefit the locals who still do not have the opportunity to discover the various water activities practiced on the island.
A busy schedule…
From 10 a.m. to 18 p.m., visitors will be able to buy their tickets at the organization's stand, next to the Max Place restaurant, in order to participate in the various activities, each of which corresponds to a number of tickets. In addition to the activities offered by the operators, shows on the water will be scheduled over the two days, and an installed musical entertainment will punctuate the atmosphere, the lolos will provide meals and drinks, for visitors, and the Max Place for volunteers.
Also note that entertainment will be installed on the beach: bouncy castle, trampoline, duck fishing ...
To close each day of celebration, a Tahitian dance will take place at sunset.
On Sunday evening, a tribute will be paid to our friend David Gozal, host of the Fête de la Mer for several years, who left us prematurely last July.
At the end of the evening, a cocktail will bring together partners, sponsors and organizers in a musical atmosphere provided by a music group based at the Blue Martini.
Métimer calls on volunteers!
Who says Festival of the Sea, also says the presence of many volunteers, without whom this event would not be possible!
Métimer needs everyone's support to make this event a memorable weekend, with the aim of continuing it the following year.
