Vehicles traveling only in the French part of the island will always be insured. But members wishing to drive partly Dutch are invited to take out insurance "with an approved local insurer". The guarantees of the other contracts will continue to apply on French territory and are valid in Sint Maarten for any stay of less than one year. As for the boat insurance contracts, they cover the insured in maritime waters "of the whole island without time limit".
