Life resumes its course but the coronavirus continues to circulate and it is necessary to guard against the return of the epidemic. StopCovid was designed as a prevention, protection and alert tool in the context of the health crisis to limit the risk of transmission.
StopCovid helps protect themselves, others and help healthcare workers by breaking the chains of transmission. It thus offers real individual and collective benefits.
What is StopCovid used for? Protect yourself and your loved ones
In the event of contact with a person tested positive for Covid-19 (more than 15 minutes within one meter), StopCovid immediately alerts the user. A useful solution for everyone on each of their trips (public transport, supermarkets, businesses or restaurants).
Thanks to the notification, he can be taken care of by his doctor (or through 0800 130 000), isolate himself, have access to a test and protect his relatives by limiting the risks of contamination.
• Protect others
If a user tests positive for Covid-19, he will receive a code with his test result so that he can register in the application. His care remains the same (isolation, follow-up by the ARS, health survey by his doctor and health insurance). StopCovid then warns people encountered on previous days that they have been close to a person tested positive, without specifying who and where.
• Can we use StopCovid safely ?
The launch of the StopCovid application was supervised. On May 26, the CNIL (National Commission for Information Technology and Liberties) gave StopCovid the green light. On May 27, the National Assembly and the Senate voted to put the application online. To guarantee the freedom, security and anonymity of French people, StopCovid is based on 5 key principles:
• volunteering
The greater the number of users, the more the efficiency of the application will be maximized. Despite everything, installing StopCovid is an individual approach based on volunteering. No one can force someone else to download the app.
• Respect for privacy
StopCovid uses the bluetooth signal to detect a nearby smartphone. Geolocation is not used, the application cannot therefore trace movements.
• Anonymity
The StopCovid application is completely anonymous. It only generates pseudonyms (crypto-identifiers
ephemera) that are not associated with the identity of the user. No one, not even the state, has access to the identity of users
• Transparency:
The source codes of the application and the documentation were distributed in open source, anyone can access them.
• Temporary
StopCovid does not intend to continue after the health crisis. It is only a tool to fight against this epidemic and a regulatory framework is set in this sense by decree.
