HEALTH PASS / In the process of being introduced in Sint Maarten

Public Health, Social Development and Labor Minister Omar Ottley said Sint Maarten was set to go live with the health pass, once official documentation has been received to do so.

The announcement was made during the partly Dutch cabinet meeting last Wednesday.  Ottley said the department has joined the European Union (EU) digital certificate system. The European Health Pass is digital proof that a person has been vaccinated against covid-19 has received a negative test result or has recovered from covid-19. According to the minister, Sint Maarten is currently awaiting the necessary official documents that would allow the country to "go live" with the European health pass. When this goes live, anyone who has been vaccinated will be able to submit a request through the official government website to receive their vaccination identification number. The minister said he also plans to establish relationships with laboratories in Sint Maarten in which the results of covid-19 tests for individuals could be automatically linked to the system. A health pass that could, as elsewhere, be imposed on travelers, nightclubs, bars and restaurants in the Dutch part.
