Last Friday, the Saint-Martin Rugby Union had gathered the whole club after the weekly training to celebrate the 5 years of the club.

Since January 2013, at the initiative of Patrick Gréa supported by Frédéric, Hervé, Olivier and Jean Louis… the St Martin rugby Union was created in order to establish rugby even more among the young population of Saint-Martin. Despite pitfalls and difficult beginnings, the courageous founders did not give up by going every week for initiations in the different districts of the island.

The number of licensees increased and quickly the results followed from 2015 with places on the podiums in Guadeloupe and Champion titles for the biggest (U16 / U18)!

Thanks to this emulation, the membership of the two clubs on the island, The ARCHIBALL and the UNION, have not stopped growing to reach represent more than 25% of the workforce of the entire Guadeloupe Committee at the start 2017!

Following Irma, the St Martin Rugby Union was one of the few team sports clubs to resume activity in October.

For the 2018 season, the supervision has been reinforced by the arrival of new coaches and new people who have taken on responsibilities in the running of the club (Bénédicte as General Secretary and Sarah as Treasurer). Thus, the club has practically regained its full strength except among the older ones (U16) and the “leisure” seniors, who nevertheless train regularly.

On this anniversary, a friendly thought was addressed to Patrick Gréa, absent for this occasion. Many sports equipment has been distributed to young people thanks to the support of the ORANGE caraïbes company.

Everyone has come together in 5 years for the 10th anniversary!

While waiting to blow out the ten candles, we send our best wishes for sporting success to the Saint-Martin Rugby Union._AF
