Coronavirus prevention: Update on educational establishments

0

The Collectivity of Saint-Martin confirms that it has distributed hydroalcoholic solutions in all schools in Saint-Martin, from the beginning of the week, as part of prevention against the Coronavirus.

This distribution was made in conjunction with the Caisse Territoriale des Œuvres Scolaires (CTOS) to the extent of available stocks. The hydroalcoholic solutions distributed were entrusted to the school director / head of the establishment or directly installed in the refectory of the establishment.

To date, all schools have received distributors of hydroalcoholic solutions, which have been placed in the refectories. Thus, all schools are provided and have an additional dose. The CTOS is responsible for checking consumption and restocking stocks while the staff of the National Education and Community are responsible for monitoring their proper use with students. Of course, like everywhere else, the stocks distributed are limited, orders have already been placed, however the institutions remain dependent on the availability of suppliers.

In addition, CTOS obtained a stock of 52 5-liter cans of liquid soap. The latter were distributed in schools from Thursday 5 March. Hand washing with soap effectively remains the first barrier measure and the hygienic gesture to be observed to fight against the transmission of microbes. This means must be privileged above all.

Beyond the measures taken by the Collectivity, it is also up to each of us to take the necessary precautions, in particular by giving children the means to disinfect their hands individually.

• Emergency repair of defective school toilets

Aware of the importance of hygiene in such a situation, the Collectivity has also set up an emergency procedure for the repair of defective pipes in the sanitary facilities of certain primary schools. While the Technical Services are currently unable to intervene directly due to a problem of access to equipment, the Collectivity has entrusted a service provider with the task of carrying out these urgent plumbing repairs.

In agreement with the education authorities, priority was given to the schools Hervé Williams, Evelina Halley of Concordia, as well as the Aline Hanson school of Sandy Ground. The repair program implemented by the Collectivity in these three schools just ended on Wednesday, March 4.

The three schools concerned were able to reopen their doors, starting on Thursday, March 5. The Collectivity maintains this phase of vigilance and remains fully mobilized on these questions of health and safety.

• Always leaks at Hervé Williams school

Work was carried out, of course, but the children's toilets were still flooded after the water opened.

In addition, only two taps for washing hands in the girls' toilets worked yesterday morning.

Clearly, all the hygienic conditions are still not met to welcome the students of the Hervé Williams school. _AF
