Last Tuesday, 20 young people were received at the prefecture accompanied by their tutors as part of the "civic service" device.
In the presence of the Prefect, Sylvie Feucher and the Vice-President of the Community, Annick Petrus, these young volunteers aged between 16 and 25 listened attentively to the advice of Ms. Pflieger, in charge of the “civic service” file at the DJSCS from Guadeloupe, accompanied by Mr. Fabre, representative of the DJSCS in Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin.
Young people will be positioned on different themes:
- Solidarity: mediator of social links, citizenship and living together;
- Environment: ambassador of the environment.
84% of this system is supported by the State. In addition, the Collectivity provides support and participates in supervision.
It pays an additional aid of 107,68 per month for eligible candidates.
The young volunteers are aware that their approach is part of a process of empowerment and autonomy while being useful to others and to themselves. These are all assets that will encourage a better start in working life.
