POLITICS: Two groups of elected officials within the territorial council

0

According to the general code of local authorities, elected officials can form groups according to their political affinity. Two have declared themselves: the Team Gibbs group with five members chaired by Daniel Gibbs and the RSMA group with sixteen members chaired by Alain Richardson.

To operate, they have a budget set by the territorial council, which cannot exceed 30% of the total amount of allowances paid each year to territorial councillors, ie an amount of 186 euros.

The distribution between the groups belongs to the president of the COM. Louis Mussington suggested a pro rata allocation of members per group, ie 44 euros per year to the Team Gibbs group and 505 euros per year to the RSMA group.

These suggestions must be the subject of a deliberation which must be submitted to all the elected representatives of the territorial council. A draft was presented during the plenary session on Monday morning. However, the elected officials could not discuss it because the deliberation was omitted from being added to the agenda at the start of the session. It will be at the next territorial council, said the president.

In the meantime, Daniel Gibbs has asked President Louis Mussington to be able to “discuss” the allocation methods and therefore the amounts allocated to the groups. (soualigapost.com)
