On the night of Sunday to Monday, around 1:35 am, a man was shot and another seriously injured after a new shootout at El Capitan, the adult entertainment establishment located on Sucker Road.
A patrol police circulating at the same time in the neighborhood noticed a commotion in the parking lot of the establishment; the police thus went on the spot and discovered that a shooting had just taken place, they were informed that the persons in charge had fled in the direction of Bishop Coline.
Ambulances, as well as several police and forensic investigators were sent to the scene of the tragedy, while a police car then on patrol on the Bishop Coline road was informed that the vehicle of the suspects was heading in its direction: during the attempted interception of their vehicle, the suspects caused a frontal collision with the police vehicle, one police officer was wounded in the head and the other in the arms; the suspects were able to escape.
The victims were transported to the Sint-Maarten medical center, one person died as a result of his injuries while the other is currently in stable condition.
The police cordoned off the perimeter around El Capitan in order to be able to investigate, gather evidence and the words of witnesses. The police will inform the media when they have more information about their ongoing investigation.
