Boating: The Sandy-Ground bridge closed for work, until June 18, 2019!

The Collectivity of Saint-Martin informs users of the Sandy-Ground bridge that, due to a mechanical breakdown on the structure, the bridge is currently out of service.

Repair work started last week and ended on Monday, June 17, 2019. Except in bad weather, the bridge will be operational again on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at the usual opening hours.

Given the danger of the works, maritime traffic in the channel will be strictly prohibited during the duration of the works from 8:00 to 12:00 and from 12:30 to 15:30. This prohibition is regulated by a territorial decree.

However, the construction slots will make boat traffic possible before 8:00 a.m., between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. and after 15:30 p.m. Signage will be placed on the structure to alert users.

>> DANGER, WORK IN PROGRESS, MARITIME CIRCULATION PROHIBITED IN CHENAL DU PONT, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 12 p.m. to 30 p.m.

PDD Order 081-2019: All nautical activities are prohibited under the Sandy-Ground bridge and in a strip of 10 meters on either side of the same bridge from Tuesday June 11 to Monday June 17, 2019 (except Sunday), from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 15:30 p.m. .

The prohibitions and restrictions laid down do not apply, in operational situations, to ships and motor boats responsible for surveillance and rescue, as well as those responsible for police missions.

Violations of this decree expose their authors to prosecution and to the penalties provided for by articles 131-13 and R. 610-5 of the penal code, by article L. 5242-2 of the transport code, as well as by articles 6 and 7 of decree n ° 2007-1167 of August 2, 2007 referred to above.

The services of the Territorial Police, the National Gendarmerie and the Port Establishment of Saint-Martin are responsible for ensuring the execution of this order.

It is Wednesday 12/06/2019 and no work has been started and no one has yet come for this bridge. How can we claim a reopening on a fixed date? There are 5 working days left before the reopening date and the building has now been closed for over a week. They still take us for idiots?
