4G: Free Mobile enters the dance

The Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Posts (ARCEP) announced last Thursday that it had selected mobile operators for the allocation of new overseas frequencies. The institution has thus chosen four operators in each of the five geographic areas concerned. Here are the four winners for the Northern Islands: Orange Caribbean, Free Mobile, Digicel and Dauphin Telecom. The last phase of the procedure "consists of an exchange with the operators in order to precisely position the frequencies of each in the bands". The commercial opening of 4G is scheduled for December 1, 2016. "The arrival of new operators will make these essential services more affordable for overseas residents," overseas minister Erika Bareigts said in the press. _EH
