Overseas Minister arrives in Saint Martin

Overseas Minister Annick Girardin arrived in Saint-Martin on Sunday March 4 at noon, accompanied by Gérald Darmanin, Minister of Action and Public Accounts, Sébastien Lecornu, Secretary of State to the Minister of State , Minister for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition and Julien Denormandie, State Secretary to the Minister for Territorial Cohesion.

Six months after the devastating passage of Hurricane Irma on the island of Saint-Martin, they come to take stock of the protection, support and refoundation measures put in place by the State. In the presence of the interministerial delegate for reconstruction, Philippe Gustin, members of the government started a Sunday afternoon reconnaissance and inventory tour of the island.

"This afternoon we will go to the field to meet Saint-Martin and Saint-Martin and be able to see before the technical and political meetings on Monday, the situation of each," said Annick Girardin. “Irma is the most terrible cyclone that France has experienced on this territory. The island has been ravaged. We don't get up as easily as that. That's why we put the means, that's why there are men, women of engineering, devices that we specially adapted for the reconstruction of Saint-Martin. […] What is certain is that in the tools, the financial means, the human means, in our presence here today, you have the assurance, the commitment of the government which is renewed again. She added.
