The elected officials meeting in territorial council yesterday approved unanimously to modify the town planning code of Saint-Martin to include the obligation to have a security room per dwelling or group of dwellings in new constructions.
"This would put occupants in safety during cyclone events. It would also ultimately reduce the need for cyclone shelters and the need for emergency evacuation, ”said President Daniel Gibbs, who wants to better insure the population in the event of a cyclone.
