The Collectivity of Saint-Martin, in partnership with the State services, the Prefecture of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin, the DEAL Guadeloupe, has made every effort in recent months so that a center for automotive technical control and truck is operational again on the island.

To do this, in support of a prior verification report produced by the engineers of DEAL Guadeloupe on the DEKRA Grand-Case site partially damaged, a territorial decree authorizes the temporary opening of an alternative technical control, the time for a return to normal activity for operators in the territory.

Thus, the DEKRA approved technical control center located at Hope Estate is authorized to resume an activity:

- Technical control on an isolated site, outside the center under the conditions of the ministerial decree of July 27, 2004, from Monday March 05 2018 for Heavy goods vehicles, in the Galisbay car park from 8:00 a.m. to 16:00 p.m. on invitation.

Heavy vehicles waiting are invited to park on the site of the carnival village.

- Alternative technical control from Monday March 12, 2018 for light vehicles, under the provisional conditions recommended by DEAL Guadeloupe.

Checks will be made by appointment only with Dekra on 0690 74 03 79 (DEKRA Grand-case located at Hope Estate Grand-Case 97-150 SAINT-MARTIN).

If 85% of the usual control points are carried out during the alternative control, the general conditions to be observed for the passage of a vehicle to technical control remain unchanged. The vehicle must be in good condition to be presented, the owner must also provide the originals of the regulatory documents: registration certificate, old technical control, original of the registration card or if loss of it an official duplicate issued by the community.

For heavy vehicles, owners must also present:

Vehicles that do not comply with European standards are subject to a specific technical inspection exempt from certain control points of the ministerial decree of 27 July 2004 relating to the technical inspection of heavy vehicles.

The alternative control will relate to the control of 115 control points distributed over the 9 verification sections that are identification, braking, steering, visibility, lighting and signaling, ground contact, body structure, equipment, the mechanical organ, and noise level pollution.

By this alternative device, the Collectivity of Saint-Martin wished to provide a temporary solution to the many motorists awaiting a passage to technical control to regularize their vehicle and allow insurers, in the territorial service of driving licenses to be able to investigate requests registration card (vehicle registration), this device being only provisional.

CAUTION: Alternative technical control of light vehicles, while contributing to the resumption of administrative and economic activities and the return to road safety conditions, following the interruption phase caused by Hurricane Irma, will only be valid and limited in the territory of the Collectivity of SAINT-MARTIN. Export vehicles will be required to undergo a new technical control at their new destination.

As a reminder :

During the transfer of a vehicle, the technical control must be valid for less than 6 months. The Technical Control must be carried out after 4 years for new vehicles, and then every 2 years.
