Armed Forces in Saint-Martin: A full-scale training called "HUREX"

0

In continuation of their sovereignty mission planned in the Northern Islands since June 9, the 33rd RIMa of the armed forces in the Antilles is carrying out, from June 20 to 23, Franco-Dutch training, associating the local civil authorities and the forces armies of the two nations, at Saint-Martin and Sint-Maarten.

This training, called HUREX, aims to maintain and improve the joint intervention capacity and the interoperability of French and Dutch forces, in the event of a natural disaster, notably on this particular island where the two nations live together.

As a force of sovereignty, the main missions of the FAA are:

- ensure the security of the interests and French nationals overseas;

- to maintain international military relations with our regional partners;

- to have logistical and operational support points allowing rapid projection, in particular in the context of emergency relief operations;

- respond to security challenges specific to their environment: combat illicit trafficking (drug trafficking and illegal fishing in particular) by contributing to State action at sea; coordinate the implementation of emergency plans at sea; strengthen the capacity to intervene quickly in emergency relief operations (natural disaster type crisis, for example).

Joint exercises will be carried out today on various sites on the island: this morning in Philipsburg, with destruction of a mine by the NEDEX teams and training in crowd control, then this afternoon in Cul-de-Sac, to a new refueling and crowd movement management exercise. _AF
