Rental evictions: towards better prevention

0

A territorial committee for coordinating actions to prevent rental evictions has just been created in Saint-Martin. For the pole of solidarity and families, it is now a question of doing everything to limit evictions on the territory.

“Since April 1, 2012, the Collectivity is responsible for housing. The Social Affairs Committee deemed it useful to create this committee which comes before the evictions (…) it is very difficult to rehouse these people ”, specifies Ramona Connor, the vice-president of the solidarity and families pole. The elected representatives of the last Territorial Council unanimously adopted the establishment of this committee (CTCAPEX Saint-Martin).

Targeted actions in Saint-Martin

This committee has several objectives, including examining the situations of households with unpaid rent, whether or not they benefit from housing assistance. This system will also make it possible to promote the treatment of the situation of the tenant in difficulty, at all stages of the procedure, and to issue a decision on the best suited solutions to avoid the loss of the home. This committee will be composed in particular of the prefect Anne Laubies or her representative and the president of the Collectivity Aline Hanson or her deputy.

The most affected Ile-de-France

In France, people threatened with deportation will benefit from a reprieve thanks to the winter truce, which will end on March 30. Just before this "break", expulsions increase, denounce several associations. The Abbé Pierre Foundation's national telephone platform for the prevention of evictions, which has existed since 2009, draws up an annual report. Ile-de-France remains the region most affected by evictions: “It alone represents more than 24% of court decisions for a little over 18% of the population. The number of calls to the platform comes mainly from this territory, even if it has been decreasing for several years: 53% in 2015 against 58% last year ”, reveals the foundation.
