EDUCATION: For the rector, it is necessary "to adapt this school year by relying on the evaluations" (1/2)

“To start this school year as if nothing had happened would be a form of denial. Each of you knows that, despite all the efforts made, our students did not acquire all the necessary knowledge for year n-1 and they did not acquire them at the same level ”, declared the rector to the heads of establishment when it came to Saint-Martin last Friday.

For Christine Gangloff-Ziegler, the teaching staff will have to "adapt this school year based on evaluations, giving full place to mastery of the fundamentals". As regards the evaluations, as for the previous years, all students from primary to high school will be subject to the evaluations at the beginning of the year from September.

“With regard to the 1st degree, the national benchmarks for the beginning of CP and beginning of CE1 will undergo few changes. (…) The results show significant gaps in certain skills in French and mathematics, this is particularly true in Saint-Martin. They should ask us about the teaching practices at the heart of the classroom in order to make them evolve to better deal with academic difficulties before they become insurmountable obstacles ”, commented the rector. In Saint-Martin, the level is 18,7 points lower in French and 6,7 points in mathematics in CP, and 21,4 and 10,9 in CE1 compared to the level of the academy.

The rector recommends "to stimulate an educational work on the mastery of the language and the appropriation of the vocabulary" in the nursery classes, to "give full place to the nursery school to make it a real place of learning".
