After having organized various sports events during the months of July and August at the Sports Hall and on the grounds of the Jean-Louis Vanterpool stadium, the President of the SXM Sports Mouvement association, Julius Richardson, takes stock of the situation. on young people and sport in general.
"We are working to recover all these young people who are on the streets to participate in football, futsal, softball, baseball, basketball, etc. tournaments," says Julius Richardson, "we want to thank the young people of Sandy Ground , from Quartier d'Orléans, Grand-Case, Agrément, Concordia, all the districts of Saint-Martin, to help us and be with us ”.
The President of SXM Sports Mouvement wishes to convey a message, “during the past two months, the tournaments that we have organized at the Sports Hall have aimed to help develop sport among young people. . But we have realized that parents do not support their children. This is not good for the island of Saint-Martin… ”
The number 1 priority of parents is to support their children, to give them strength. "Because by playing a sport, they improve," says Richardson, "we would like to thank the twenty or so parents who came during the months of July and August to support and motivate their children who were playing."
“I mean clearly, sport in Saint-Martin needs financial help. Our association helps young people, but if there is no financial support to help them, it will be useless.
It is through sport that we can recover these children and that is what we want to do. We are fighting for these young people on the island, but no one from Saint-Martin is supporting them… It is not good for the community ”. While affirming that it is important, "for parents, that they know that sport is best for young people".
After a year and a few weeks of existence, SXM Sports Mouvement would like to thank the Collectivity for the loan of the infrastructure of the Jean-Louis Vanterpool stadium, the prefecture for its support, as well as the Saint-Martin Football League. Thanks also to the many sponsors, "whether they are from the French side or the Dutch side, and who help us greatly during the various tournaments that we organize".
