Education: 26 fables by Jean de la Fontaine as a reading for the holidays!

0

The promotion of personal reading and books is one of the priorities of the Ministry of National Education. The operation “a book for the holidays”, emblematic of this action, was renewed this year.

A renewed selection of twenty-six of Jean de la Fontaine's Fables, illustrated by Voutch and edited by Canopé, was offered to each CM 2 student to encourage personal reading during the summer holidays.

School principals and teachers were encouraged to solemnize the handing over of books to children. This book marks the culmination of children's education in primary school and prepares their entry into college.

Teachers were encouraged to take the opportunity to demonstrate and strengthen their links with local libraries and their staff. Were solicited the possible partners of the school on questions of reading and writing (authors, illustrators, storytellers, actors, troupes and theatrical stages, associations, etc.) and more generally, all professionals and actors involved in the promotion of books and reading.

The teachers of the schools ensured a time of presentation of the work to the pupils of CM2 at the time of its delivery in order to help them to enter into its reading and to stimulate their curiosity.

College teachers taking charge of classes from 6th to next school year, in French in particular, but also in plastic arts, art history and moral and civic education, will be encouraged to take hold of the collection and integrate into their teaching as part of the implementation of the program, preferably during the first weeks of class.

In elementary schools in Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, various events were organized for the distribution of this work. During the working day he devoted to Saint-Martin on Tuesday June 25, 2019, the rector of the Guadeloupe academic region, Mostafa FOURAR, participated in the presentation of Jean de la Fontaine's Fables to each CM2 student during a very beautiful ceremony organized by the director and teachers of the Clair-Saint-Maximin elementary school. The students were very proud to receive this book along with a number of awards which recognized their efforts and their work during the school year. Parents and teachers shared this legitimate pride. Congratulations to everybody.

Happy reading and happy holidays!
