New Governor for Lions Clubs

A new governor for Lions Clubs in District 63 French West Indies and Guyana has been appointed. It was during their annual congress, last weekend in Guadeloupe, that this election took place.

The Northern Islands area (the 4 clubs of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin) was represented by a large delegation. It was Guyanese Maryline Houssein-Youssouf who succeeded the previous governor, who came from Guadeloupe. For the presidency of our area, it is Véronique Paul, president of the Lions Club Oualichi, who succeeds Eric Blanchard, of the Doyen club. With 1.400.000 members in 210 countries, represented at the United Nations and in many other international organizations, the association will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2017. It is through its actions in favor of the Saint-Martin community that the Lions Club is known locally but its Foundation, LCIF, has allocated no less than $ 700 million to international actions, especially during natural disasters (recently for Nepal), but also dedicated to the fight against avoidable blindness , vaccinations and support for young people. Their motto is more relevant than ever, "We Serve", is the common thread of all these volunteers! VP
