The concern is very real around the Zika. According to a decree published last Sunday in the Official Journal, the state called on health reservists in Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana to fight against the virus.

"The health reserve is mobilized in order to strengthen the vector control services and the care supply sector of the regional health agencies of Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana, from February 6, 2016, for a period of ninety days ”, specifies article 1 of the decree. As we announced yesterday, only one person has been confirmed biologically infected with Zika since the start of surveillance in Saint Martin, according to the Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS). In Guadeloupe, 17 cases have been biologically identified.

In Martinique and Guyana, the epidemic is already well established.

What is the health reserve for?

The Establishment for Preparing and Responding to Health Emergencies (EPRUS) is a public establishment created in 2007, placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Health. The health reserve brings together volunteer health professionals who can be mobilized in the event of emergency situations or health threats.
