A new center for women's and children's health

International Midwives Day will take place tomorrow. On this occasion, we interviewed Noémie Bordelais, midwife, and director of the new medical center dedicated to the health of women and children at Hope Estate.

Why did you create this medical center?
I have been a midwife for about 9 years. Our profession has evolved a lot over the past ten years. In the past, midwives tended to deliver babies and monitor pregnancies. We were then asked for more and more comprehensive care: doing gynecology and following the infant. As I went along, I started to broaden my skills. I told myself that it would be a good thing for the patients to have in one and the same place a global follow-up of gynecology, obstetrics and pediatrics. My clientele was in demand for this type of project.

How did you set up this project? And how many health professionals will work there?
I set up this project by myself from A to Z. I was convinced that the area of Hope Estate, in full development, would be ideal to launch a medical center specializing in the care of women and children. At the metropolitan level, there are more and more multidisciplinary health centers. To set up this concept, I therefore did health framework studies. This brand new 100m2 center, already in operation, will welcome a midwife, a pediatrician and a gynecologist. Recruitment is underway and on track.

The center is located in the lot. 31, ZAC de Hope Estate, 16 rue canne à sucre (near the ARS). Contact: 05 90 877 887
