Tourism: The tourist office of Saint-Martin went to Martinique

0

Recently, representatives of the Saint-Martin tourist office traveled to Martinique where they met the press, in order to highlight the resumption of tourism in the territory, in a context of reconstruction of the island.

Two years after the passage of Hurricane Irma, the delegation from the Saint-Martin tourist office, led by its director Aïda Weinum, went "to sell" the destination which is in the process of finding a second wind. A destination where, in recent months, tourism has been doing better since the island was 85% rebuilt.

By the end of 2019, accommodation capacity in the hotel industry should increase to around 1040 rooms, whereas before Cyclone Irma it was 1449 rooms. On the other hand, the 140 restaurateurs established on the French side consider that they will return to normal activity as of the next season.

Sign of a revival of tourism in Saint-Martin, the regional airline Air Antilles Express has seen its activity increase during the last months, which allowed it to carry out three rotations per day between Martinique and Saint-Martin . _RM
