Tropical storm Matthew: The people of Martinique grateful for the intervention of the military!

0

In the aftermath of the tropical storm "Matthew", the French Forces in the Antilles intervened in several communes, notably in Fort-de-France to clear the axes hampered by falling trees.

On Thursday, September 29, the Martinique prefecture asked for the assistance of the Armed Forces in the Antilles in order to clear the main roads and restore routes to several municipalities. A total of 80 soldiers were engaged.

The 33rd regiment of marine infantry (RIMa) and the regiment of the adapted military service (RSMA) were then dispatched on the spot under the operational control of the superior commander (COMSUP) of the armies in the Antilles. Two intelligence and reconnaissance teams from the 33rd RIMa immediately joined the Lamentin technical service center for a briefing with municipal officials before being deployed to the sites assessed as priority at Roches Carrees, Morne Pitault and Croix Rivail.

At midday, the main roads were cleared thanks to the intervention of municipal employees with the assistance, oh so precious, of the soldiers of the French Forces present in the Antilles! _AF
