Success for the endemic animal festival

It was in the magnificent setting of the Cayman Seaside Nature Park that the 2nd edition of the endemic animal festival was organized last week by the association Les Fruits de Mer, whose headquarters are in Grand-Case.

There was a crowd to attend this original annual event, intended to make known the endemic fauna and flora (that is to say the species which live only in Saint-Martin or in the region). The circuit began with a visit to the discovery station for these animals (reptiles, in particular lizards existing only on the island, insects and birds), with fascinating presentations by guides from the association. The very large number of children, on the other hand, were taken care of during very fun artistic and general culture workshops on the theme of wildlife. Participants also discovered how to observe these special species on their future outings. Mark Yokoyama, the co-founder of the association, also launched the "Gaïac" club named after one of the most beautiful trees on our island "endangered and yet closely linked to our historical heritage since its presence is reported during of the most ancient archaeological discoveries, ”he recalls. The association has published a free electronic book "Eye on Endemics" on this subject to consult on their website: https://www.lesfruitsdemer.com. VP
