"The latest information on the continuation of the state of health emergency until July 24 and the health situation in the United States leaves us very little hope for a recovery before the end of the year," comments

Pending the recovery of tourism, the association of hoteliers in Saint-Martin hopes that all stakeholders - private and public -  "To organize together on all subjects with a view to welcoming tourists as well as for the development of our economy and consequently the well-being of the population".

The association has already started to think about avenues of work. She gathered her ideas in a document which she presented in May to the elected representatives of the COM, to the economic pole, to the direction of tourism and to the tourist office.

First of all, the hoteliers believe that "given the global context, it is opportune to review our scheme of tourism governance and consequently certain points of the tourism strategy".

Then, in terms of health security and cleanliness of the territory, the association offers to "test the population and anyone entering the territory, multiply the bins, dismantle or clean old buildings, distributors of hydro alcoholic gel, fight against animals wanderers, in particular on the beaches, distribute washable gloves and masks (with the territorial brand logo), fight mosquitoes, install public showers and toilets as well as ashtrays on the beaches ”.

Finally, in terms of regional planning and tourism, the association of hoteliers has launched actions aimed at improving the quality of life of residents and those of tourists. Among these ideas: the creation of tourist signage with the brand of the territory, the marking of parking areas to protect natural sites, roads and speed bumps and road repairs, the pedestrianization of Grand Case in high season and weekends in low season, the development of seats and benches by the sea, the development of ponds and beaches, etc. ”.

"This work has been welcomed [by the COM] and the association is awaiting concrete responses", confides it. (soualigapost.com)
