BOATING: Shipwrecks will not be removed until March 2021

At the beginning of 2019, the Collectivity had launched a public market to remove the wrecks of post Irma boats in the territorial waters of Saint-Martin and had selected the Koole Construction company in early July. But in early 2020, she had to cancel the contract.

As a reminder, the contract had been examined by the prefecture's legality check and certain irregularities had been noted. In particular, part of the installations envisaged by Koole was subject to authorization, but the company did not have the necessary ICPE approval.

Asked about the publication of a new market during the update Thursday afternoon, the president of the COM confirmed that "the new public procurement procedure should be able to be launched next July". "We will proceed to a phasing taking into account in priority the wrecks identified as being the most dangerous", he specified before estimating the removal of the first wrecks from March 2021. Daniel Gibbs justified this delay by "The administrative deadlines which will result from this procedure, around 3 months, and from the deadline for registration of the winning company by the prefecture services in compliance with environmental procedures and requirements, around 5 months".
