Around 9:XNUMX am on Thursday August XNUMX, the security team at the Coliseum casino, located on Front Street (Philipsburg), spotted two suspicious men, dressed in dark clothing, on the roof of the building. Everything suggests that they are about to commit an armed robbery.
Casino employees inform the Sint Maarten police, who send several patrols to the site. One of them spots a man on Back Street who fits the description of the suspects. He is running away, chased by a police officer on foot. The suspect is finally arrested near the Oranje school.
During a search, the police found a mask, a firearm, gloves and other objects that could be used for a robbery. They are confiscated for further investigation.
Police raided the area to find the second suspect. In vain. The special unit against theft has opened an investigation.
