This essential event for our association takes place every year in all French territories. In Saint Martin, all the Red Cross actors have mobilized to inform and educate the general public about all the actions deployed on the island to help people in vulnerable situations.
The professionals of our establishments thus presented the social, health and medico-social structures: the Health Bus for All, the Health Center, the Mobile Social Intervention Team or the Youth Health Space. As for the volunteers, they crisscrossed the streets and neighborhoods, equipped with trunks to collect cash donations and offer the population goodies bearing the image of the association, enough to leave with a small souvenir: keychain, bracelet, pen or mug.
In total, almost 4000 € / $ were generously donated by Saint-Martinoises and Saint-Martinois, and we thank you very much.
Because these donations will allow the volunteers of the French Red Cross to develop and continue on the island, their social actions like night social raids towards wandering people. In fact, twice a month in the evening, the volunteer marauders meet street users to offer them listening, a little comfort, food and clothing aid or even a hygiene kit.
We would also like to thank the company CAGÉPA, for making the Howell Center space available in order to carry out the events on Saturday, May 18, 2019 in the best possible way and in good conditions. It is also thanks to these partners that we can act and lead to our actions with the population.
Without forgetting the volunteers who every day offer their time in a good mood in order to carry out these beautiful solidarity actions. I thank the whole team again for all their efforts and commitment. Thanks everyone!
