0

Ten men who had been arrested by the Sint Maarten police for failing to comply with the curfew imposed by the authorities were sentenced to community service penalties. Sentences vary from 20 to 60 hours of TIG; the 20 hours were given to a minor.

The Sint Maarten prosecutor's office has established a list of penalties for those who do not respect the curfew or who have a weapon (but not a firearm) ranging from 30 to 60 hours of community service or from 15 to 30 days according to the resistance of individuals to surrender to the police.

These sentences are not applied to individuals arrested for looting or for possession of firearms.
