The investigating judge decided last Friday to extend the pre-trial detention of Theo Heyliger by eight days. The latter was transferred to the Bonnaire prison center due to the lack of space in the Pointe Blanche prison in Sint Maarten.
Since his arrest, Theo Heyliger had been kept in the cell at the police station in Philipsburg; conditions of detention that would no longer respect human rights.
Theo Heyliger is suspected of corruption by accepting bribes to select a construction company on a site.
