REGATE: Registration record for the Caribbean Multihull Challenge V

0

When the 5th edition of the CMC starts on February 3, a record number of registrations will be registered. “We hope that the number of boats, which was 18 in 2022, will be closer to 20 for this event,” said Stephen Burzon, volunteer director of marketing.

Much of this increase is due to the participation of several Balance catamarans in the first-ever Caribbean Multihull Challenge Rally, a 3-day regatta that begins and ends in Simpson Bay with lively nights on the French side at Anse Marcel and Sandy. Ground, Anguilla.

According to Philip Berman, President of Balance Catamarans, the idea of celebrating Balance's 10th anniversary with a regatta in the Caribbean is perfect and "partnering with the CMC rally for our anniversary  fits perfectly into our plans”.

Newly, the regatta will run alongside CMC's traditional three-day racing schedule, which focuses on the Dutch side of the island.

“At CMC St Maarten Yacht Club, all kinds of multihulls come to race, play and party.  We have luxury cruisers on the race courses and very fast multihulls that race in their class on other courses.  French-designed 24' Diam open trimarans, a superb Leopard 50 and a charismatic Schionning 53 will be there to break new records.  Our new CSA 1 class trifecta, which combines a 60-mile sprint around St-Barth, a 52-mile sprint around Saba and a 27-mile circumnavigation of the island, will allow the winner of these three events to win a beautiful and practical diver's watch Oris Aquis, provided by our  long-time Oris sponsor,” said Petro Jonker, Chairman of the CMC Steering Committee.

The Caribbean Multihull Challenge is more than a cruising regatta and rally.  It's a true festival of all things multihull and a chance for the multihull community to come together in one place to recreate, learn, gather and enjoy the wonderful island of St Maarten/St-Martin.  For more information on the CMC:
