The Community and the State launch a field study to assess the situation of degraded buildings in Saint-Martin

Within the framework of the protocol signed in November 2017, the Collectivity of Saint-Martin and the State planned to establish a “precise diagnosis of the territory, equipment, buildings and the situation of people” to assess the consequences of the Hurricane IRMA.

In this context, the Madin cabinet was mandated by the State to carry out a detailed study of damaged buildings in Saint-Martin. From April 16 to May 21, eight experts will visit the districts and areas deemed to be priority to analyze the deterioration suffered by individual and collective housing. In some cases, they may have to ask the inhabitants to briefly inspect their accommodation: we thank in advance all the inhabitants requested to accept their requests in order to facilitate their investigation.

The purpose of this work is to contribute effectively to the reconstruction of Saint-Martin by enabling the Collectivity to know precisely the buildings that must be secured as a priority and to implement a new urban planning strategy.
