The president of the Community Aline Hanson, the president of the Water and Sanitation Establishment of Saint-Martin (EEASM) Louis Fleming and the chief of staff of the prefect Emmanuel Effantin laid yesterday the first stone of the new station treatment plant in Quartier d'Orléans, in the presence of the Prime Minister of Sint Maarten William Marlin.

This new station, whose works will last two years, will allow the Collectivity to catch up on its structural backwardness and to rehabilitate the water and sanitation networks of the territory. At a cost of 13,5 million euros, the objective of this site is to “improve the living environment” and “respect the environment”, according to President Aline Hanson. Long awaited by the population, this book is “the result of the sustainable policy led by the Community and its Water Establishment”, specifies Ms. Hanson who thanks all the people who contributed to this project. "This work is essential and is essential for public health and regional planning", adds Louis Fleming, the president of the EEASM. This infrastructure was planned to receive 450 m3 and it now receives double, sometimes more during the tourist season. ” The existing station, built in 1983, is now dilapidated and no longer meets the standards for discharge into the fish pond.

New modern construction

This fully covered station has been designed to accommodate visitors - walk and access to the wetland for small boats - and will be geared towards ecotourism. “This project was made possible thanks to close collaboration with the services of the Nature Reserve, the Coastal Conservatory, the State and Europe,” notes Mr. Fleming. This project will bring a breath of fresh air for the construction industry and make local businesses work. ” Emmanuel Effantin, chief of staff, emphasizes “a building with zero nuisance, soundproofed and deodorized for the well-being of the inhabitants who live nearby” and on “the preservation of natural resources through the recovery and reuse of the water ; equipment that aims to protect biodiversity ”. The ceremony ended with a technical presentation of the station, and a cocktail.
