Laying of the foundation stone of the Wataki Clinic at Concordia

In July 2020, doctors Corinne and Pierre Sainte-Luce came to Saint-Martin to sign the deed of acquisition by the Guadeloupean group Manioukani, which they manage, with a view to building a private clinic there. A year and a half later, the couple is again in Saint-Martin to lay the first stone of the construction site at Concordia, near the hospital.

Last Friday, alongside the president of the Collectivité, the director general of the regional health agency, the director of the hospital, the prefect, Corinne and Pierre Sainte-Luce presented the project. "The medical project meets the needs of the population of Saint-Martin and the surrounding islands in terms of follow-up care and rehabilitation after acute hospitalization or as part of the monitoring of a chronic pathology", they specified.

Valérie Denux confirmed the interest of the project for the territory and its complementarity with the healthcare offer of the Louis-Constant Fleming hospital centre.

"After an operation, when patients leave the hospital, they will come to the clinic for follow-up care, recovery and rehabilitation," says Dr. Pierre Sainte-Luce. The clinic will include two care units: 20 places for follow-up care and rehabilitation in a day hospital and 30 beds for follow-up care and rehabilitation in full hospitalization.

The opening of the establishment scheduled in fifteen months, will require the creation of sixty direct jobs, all categories and trades combined.

The total cost of the project is 15 million euros.

As he did for all the other clinics in Guadeloupe, Pierre Sainte-Luce will baptize the establishment in Saint-Martin with an Amerindian name, Wataki. (soualigapost.com)
