According to health bulletins published by authorities on both sides of the island, 7 people have been infected with covid-182 across the country since the start of the pandemic. If at the beginning a significant gap was observed between the French part (which had fewer cases) and the Dutch part, in recent months this gap has narrowed. In July, 19 cases were identified by the regional health agency of Saint-Martin and 2 by St Maarten. At the end of August, the number of cases was 713 and 2 respectively.

Due to the presence of the much more contagious Delta variant, the number of cases exploded in August: 1 people tested positive throughout the country against 672 in July.

They represent 23,3% of all cases. Authorities in St Maarten have confirmed 921 new cases and ARS 750. Almost a quarter of cases in the Dutch side were recorded in one month, in August. Partly French, the share is 21,6%.

Finally, the number of deaths has also sharply increased from 75 at the end of July to 99 at the end of August on the whole island. A quarter of those who died were also in the last month. The French side has recorded 7 deaths and the Dutch side 17 and has respectively 48 and 51 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
