Demonstration of last Friday: The mobilization has intensified!

1

After two months of strike at the Collectivité, the mobilization has strengthened significantly. After a demonstration in the streets of Marigot, the strikers received strong support. The carriers blocked the main axes of Saint-Martin.

At the time when, the spokesperson for the agents of the Collectivity on strike for two months now, Albert Blake snatches the microphone from the hands of Daniel Gibbs, the mobilization then takes on a whole new scale. After demonstrating in the streets of Marigot, the strikers who have received significant support in recent weeks demanded responses from the president of the Collectivity.

In fact, they demanded only one response from Daniel Gibbs.

This is the first point of the demands, the request for immediate departure from the Director General of Community Services (DGS), Christiane Ayache. “Mr. Chairman, we ask you clearly, will you make us continue to work with Ms. Ayache. Yes or no ? », Questioned Albert Blake, general secretary of the union Uni.t 978.

The moment is crucial, President Gibbs begins his response: "you know Mr. Blake, there is an administrative way to settle this matter". It is too much for the spokesperson and for the crowd of demonstrators present this Friday morning. The microphone is torn from the hands of the president of the Collectivity. Daniel Gibbs struggles to find his way back to the Collective. The demonstrators chant and demand the departure of the DGS. The atmosphere is somewhat tense. This episode marks a turning point. Two hours later, the strikers obtain a reinforcement of weight.

Snot Valois and Bellevue blocked

This Friday, September 3, it is around noon, the carriers who had been pre-positioned since the morning on the outskirts of Marigot set up at the Bellevue roundabout, then at the exit of the shopping area. The axis leading to the Dutch part is completely blocked. At the same time, the same scenario takes place at the approval roundabout. Finally the carriers decide to settle at the top of Morne Valois.

No need to block the road to Sandy Ground since traffic on the bridge is already closed. At midday, Saint-Martin is blocked.

During the afternoon the carriers unblock Morne Valois for a few moments, then block again. The mobilization has clearly intensified. Aware of the seriousness of the situation, the Prefect received the demonstrators on Friday afternoon.

At the end of the negotiations carried out within the Prefecture, the Collective agreed to lift the roadblocks on Friday evening, after having been certain of being able to start negotiations in the presence of the Prefect and the president of the Collective. The meeting is scheduled this morning at 9 am, this time attended by Daniel Gibbs.

Since these Messrs Cedrik André and Albert Blake are so useful to the community in the service of the people that they “defend”, why not organize a local ballot with as theme the efficiency of the personnel of the com with a great public debate which will take take into account all the components of the population.
Are they ready to reveal everything about their real activities and the results obtained in the real service of the inhabitants of this territory?
I don't know these people, any more than Ms. Ayache, but I have a little song behind my head that tells me that this lady is doing her job well and fulfilling the mission for which she was hired. that it disturbs some, that is the goal it seems to me. To build, everyone must be able to question themselves and accept the will of the greatest number.
And that desire is certainly not to block the island or the public services like you are doing.
