It is with deep sadness that the Vélo Club de Grand-Case learned last Friday of the death of Frantz Ségor, a key figure in the regional sports world and in politics.

A recognized teacher in the Communes of Goyave and Saint-Martin, Frantz Ségor also invested himself throughout his life in the sports association fabric. In particular, he held the position of commissioner of the regional cycling committee, but also president of the Guadeloupean committee for traditional sailing. He was also 1st Deputy Mayor of Goyave and General Councillor. He was the president of the Departmental Fire Rescue Service (SDIS) of Guadeloupe.

"We were lucky to receive this GREAT gentleman in the years 1975 to 1985 in Saint-Martin", underlines a leader of the Vélo Club de Grand-Case. “Thanks to his wise advice, the club has taken steps to reach the top level. Frantz Ségor is and will remain our BIG brother. We will never forget the moments spent at Bois-Sec Goyave and the club's participation in the various rounds of the Pas-Dunlop won in 1977 by Christian Merlot, future French champion. Races that will also have revealed a certain… Silvère Dulorme, future champion of Guadeloupe.

The Vélo Club de Grand-Case sends its very sincere condolences to his wife, Francette, his children Sony, Sandra and Sandro. “We are with you wholeheartedly. Rest in peace Frantz”. _AF
