Politics: Spectacular departure for the Minister of Ecology, Nicolas Hulot

0

It would only be one departure among others if the Minister of Ecology had not chosen to make his announcement live on France Inter before even having informed the President and the Prime Minister.

Last Tuesday, during an interview on France Inter, Nicolas Hulot publicly announced his decision to leave the Government of which he had been a part for fifteen months. During this “revelation” interview, he confessed a feeling of failure and readily admits that his 12 predecessors were no better able than he to influence the state's policy in matters of ecology. According to him, the policy of "small steps" does not allow all the necessary space to be given to environmental concerns which must be the keystone of any policy. Finally, if we were to retain only one element of his plea, we would talk about lobbies. Nicolas Hulot deplores the considerable weight of lobbies in political decisions. And to explain that these groups are present even in the highest spheres of power. He considers it "a problem of democracy" and asks himself the following questions, "who has power? Who governs? ". In conclusion, he explains that he refuses to participate in "a form of hoax". Even if he took the trouble to greet the President and the Prime Minister in a friendly manner, some deplore the cavalier method and criticism is coming from all sides. _NB
