Tourism: Jonathan Hodge, new junior tourism minister

Jonathan Hodge, 16 years old and pupil of first S is since Monday August 27, and for one year, the junior minister of tourism. He will represent Saint-Martin at the next SOTIC (State of the Tourism Industry Conference), organized by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), which will take place in the Bahamas from October 1 to 5, 2018. The objective is to encourage junior ambassadors of tourism to share their vision on the future direction of regional tourism in a very competitive environment.

Jonathan Hodge won Monday against five other college and high school girls, the competition organized from 14 to 17 pm at the CCI, within the framework of the tripartite convention (Tourist office, COM, national education) relating to the teaching of tourism to Saint-Martin. An option set up in 2013 by Evelyne Flemming, project manager at IA-DAASEN, and supervised by a three-year agreement renewed in 2016.

This competition, aimed at young people aged 14 to 17 who have followed the “Education in Tourism” option since the fourth, took place under the same conditions as that which will be held in the Bahamas in October and in which the junior ministers of several Caribbean islands. All in front of a jury chaired by Aida Weinum, acting director of the tourist office, and composed of Bernadette Davis, former director of the tourist office, Daniella Jeffry, researcher in the history of Saint Martin, Miranda Arnell, professor of '' and Alex Pierre, territorial advisor and vice-president of the tourist office.
