Heritage: Continuation of backup and restoration works at Fort Louis (Exceptional closure from May 14 to May 18, 2018)

0

Engaged since March 2018, emergency and backup work continues at Fort Louis. A delicate and urgent intervention on a pillar at the entrance of the Fort means that the site must be closed to the public exceptionally from Monday May 14 (7 a.m.) to Friday May 18 (12 p.m.).

For the safety of visitors, these 5 days of closure are necessary to allow the TERH-Caribbean company, under the leadership of the chief architect of historical monuments, Pierre Bortolussi, to carry out the essential works of consolidation of the pillar of 'entry and proceed to its recovery. Indeed, extremely fragile and without rapid intervention, this pillar is currently spilling and threatening to fall.

We thank visitors for not going up to Fort Louis for the entire duration of this operation and for respecting the instructions indicated on the site.

The safeguarding and restoration works are carried out and financed by the Collectivity of Saint-Martin with the support of the Prefecture of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin (Development Contract) and the Department of Cultural Affairs of Guadeloupe.

The community of Saint-Martin invites you to respect these instructions and thanks you for your understanding.
