Il A year ago, a group of parents very involved in school life in Saint-Martin for ten years, wanted to break with the elections without a stake, by setting up their own list under the name of “Parents Sans Etiquette”.
The elections to a list mobilized less and less parents who did not understand the reason for moving since the games were made with or without them.
From our first candidacy, with our unwavering presence in previous years, we won 2 of the 5 seats available in the elections for parents' representatives of high school students. Encouraged by these results, we have decided to continue our momentum and to formalize our actions in the form of an association to act not only for high school students but for all children attending school in the region.
Our motto is simple, "Quality education for all, with rooms and teachers".
This year, we are not present on the Boards of Directors, a departure from the procedure according to the principal prevented us from doing so. We disturb, and that's good. This in no way hinders the will that has animated us for all these years. Since 2017, following the destruction of the Souligna college which had 34 classrooms, only 6 modular rooms and 4 algecos have been added to the Cité Scolaire to accommodate its workforce of more than 700 students.
Among these students are the candidates for the 2021 bac, students who since their arrival at the Cité Scolaire have "made do with":
- half-days in 3rd year, you have to share the space
- schedules with gaps in second and first, still not enough rooms
- An impressive number of non-taught courses that have never been replaced.
These are still the same students who still have to "deal with" today:
- the persisting lack of rooms, forcing the cancellation of certain lessons from the first two weeks of the start of the school year,
- timetables still being readjusted one and a half months after the start of the school year,
- the lack of workplaces allowing to be in an environment conducive to study during the still too many hours of permanence.
- teachers absent since the start of the school year in several subjects.
The shortcomings for a dignified school environment for our children are many and we are not too many two associations to bring them up. Our vigilance for several years, and our actions from the start of the school year are bearing fruit, as you have seen.
Our association has only one objective: To work so that the school finds its place with the decision makers for the pupils, their teachers and us parents.
