Caribbean Tourism Month: Many events to come!

0

This year, the Arts and Culture Services and the Tourist Office have teamed up to organize a series of events as part of Caribbean tourism month!

Reminder: What is Caribbean tourism month!

It is the CTO (Caribbean Tourism Organization) which is at the origin of these celebrations so that during the month of November the assets of the Caribbean as a whole and the uniqueness of each island are highlighted.

CTO headquartered in Barbados and operational marketing in New York and London. The CTO is the Caribbean tourism development agency and brings together more than 30 member governments and several private sector entities. The mission of the CTO is to provide its members with the services and information necessary for the development of sustainable tourism that is economically and socially beneficial to the populations of the Caribbean. The organization provides specialist support and technical assistance to member countries in the areas of marketing, human resource development, research, statistics, information technology and sustainable tourism development. The CTO disseminates information about its members to the general public and tourism professionals.

• November 5: the "Portrait and Poetry Corner"

On this occasion, you will be able to discover the talent and the creations of our local artists, our painters, our poets without forgetting our traditional music artists around the theme “Hurricane Irma. "

This event was decided following one of my meetings with the Minister of Culture and Sports of Country Sint-Maarten, Mrs. Silvera Jocobs, concerning the festivities of the feast of Saint Martin.

It is therefore the Arts & Culture services of the community and those of the Dutch part in collaboration with the Saint Martin Tourist Office which are responsible for the organization of this free artistic event on the seafront of Marigot from 10:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m.

November 7: 1.2 Tree for Saint Martin. By 1,2, Tree means 1,2, tree!

The Tourist Office in partnership with the Arts and Culture, Environment services with the support of the district councils propose to replant trees and plants.

The idea of this project is to educate the population in the context of the reconstruction of the island on the environment. Indeed, our environment is as important as the built environment. We want to encourage the population and we therefore invite them to replant endemic trees and plants in our territory.

To mark this day of November 7 which is Caribbean tourism day, the President of the Community and I will each plant a tree in the garden of the Community in the presence of all our partners and all those who wish to join ours.

• November 10 and 11, Pre-Saint Martin's Day festivities and at Saint-Martin's Day Celebration.

This year we offer you to celebrate the feast of Saint-Martin, a whole weekend of festivities with the creation of a mini-village in Quartier d'Orléans, entertainment, dance without forgetting of course the official ceremonies!

• From November 26: "6 villages, 6 flavors and 1 Saint-Martin".

We will start with the installation of a Christmas village in front of the Collectivity and its garden. A moment of sharing but also of tasting all our traditional dishes.

Throughout the day you will also have the opportunity to dance to the sound of the steel pan and listen to other traditional groups on the island (Jolly Boys, Rythm Boys, Bottle Neck Crew, Bologna Combo, gospel groups…) .

The village will then move every Friday and Sunday in each of the 6 neighborhoods until the weekend before Christmas.

The opportunity for each district to highlight its cultural specifications around culinary, cultural and musical events.

To close the month of celebration of the Month of Tourism in the Caribbean will be organized on November 29 the SXM Smile Again Event.

The pupils who are taught tourism education at school will have the pleasure of representing in “giant human letters” the logo “Sxm smile again. " _AF
